Custom Compact Powder Boxes for Shade Identification

Customers comparing powders need to distinguish shades without confusing similar packs. Place the shade name or number on the panel visible in the display, clear of decorative details that could make small text difficult to read.

A window helps only when it reveals something useful. If the compact has an opaque lid, a carton window shows the case rather than the powder. Clear shade names may be more helpful.

Coordinate the design with your wider printed cosmetic packaging, while keeping each artwork version tied to the correct product and shade.

Measure the Closed Case, Including Hinges and Clasps

Powder weight and pan diameter do not define the box size. Measure the closed compact, including any wrapping that remains in the pack.

For a round case, record its maximum diameter and closed height in millimetres. For a rectangular case, provide maximum length, width and closed height. Include projecting hinges or clasps.

These measurements describe the case, not the carton’s internal dimensions or finished external size. If the boxed compact must fit a retail tray, provide the available tray space too.

Check the Fit Before Adding an Insert

An insert may help when the compact moves inside the carton or needs to sit in a particular position. The carton and insert should hold the case without pressing on its lid or clasp.

Consider support and removal together. A fitted recess needs enough access for customers to lift the case out. Include measurements for any separately packed brush or puff.

If a set includes a cheek product, plan its printed blush carton around that case’s own dimensions. Similar-looking compacts can have different depths and support needs.

Compact Powder Packaging by Board and Structure

White paperboard provides a base for printed retail cartons. Solid bleached sulphate (SBS) and folding boxboard (FBB) are different options; choose the grade around the compact’s weight and construction, rather than GSM alone.

Kraft provides a brown background that affects printed colours. Review artwork on the selected stock, and assess recyclability from the finished construction, including coatings and finishes.

For a single compact, discuss a folding tuck-end carton. Sleeve-and-tray or rigid lid-and-base structures may suit gift presentation. Confirm the available construction and whether it arrives flat or assembled. Courier orders also need a suitable dispatch outer.

Keep Powder Shades Separate From Print Approval

Use the approved product name and shade code consistently. A printed swatch is a reference, not a guarantee of how powder looks on skin. Approve the cosmetic shade and packaging colour separately.

Discuss CMYK printing against the selected board. For a matt finish, specify whether you want varnish or lamination and check its suitability. Keep foil and embossing clear of shade names and other small text.

Record Each Size and Shade Before Ordering

List quantities for each compact size and artwork version. Flag changes to the case or accessories before repeating an order.
