SBS Board
Smooth white board for premium printed retail packaging.
Face creams come in jars, tubes and pumps, so the carton needs more than a standard size. Get custom face cream boxes made around your container and branding.
Product details
A 50ml face cream jar and a 50ml pump bottle may contain the same amount of product, but they need completely different cartons. Even containers of the same type can vary. Glass jars can be short and wide, tubes may have broad caps, and pump dispensers often add considerable height above the container body.
For custom face cream boxes, we therefore start with the complete primary container rather than its stated capacity. Maximum width, depth and height, closure type and approximate packed weight give us the information needed to develop a more accurate fit.
Face cream packaging is not one structural format. A face cream jar box usually needs to accommodate the diameter of the jar and its lid. Heavier glass jars may also influence board selection or whether additional internal support is worthwhile.
Tubes create a different shape. Depending on how the product is intended to sit on shelf, face cream tube packaging may be designed around the tube standing upright or positioned in another suitable orientation.
Pump containers require enough headroom for the complete dispenser. Measuring only the bottle body can result in a carton that is too short. These differences are why using the actual production container is preferable to choosing a generic skincare carton from its volume alone.
The primary jar, tube or pump is responsible for containing the face cream. The secondary carton has another job — shielding the container from handling marks while keeping the product organised during retail presentation and distribution. It also provides a larger branded surface than many compact skincare containers offer.
A correctly sized face cream packaging box can reduce unnecessary movement around the container, but it should not be described as preserving or protecting the cosmetic formulation itself. That distinction keeps the packaging specification realistic.
Face cream containers can be compact. The amount of information associated with the product often isn’t. Branding, product identification, quantity, ingredients, directions, warnings and other applicable information may all compete for limited space. The outer carton gives the brand additional printable panels.
With printed face cream boxes, the artwork can be developed against the final dieline so important information is not placed across folds, glue areas or cut edges. The business responsible for the finished cosmetic product still needs to determine which information and claims are required. The carton simply provides usable space to present that information alongside the brand.
Making a carton larger can create more room for artwork, but that does not necessarily improve the product. Face creams are often displayed alongside serums, cleansers and other compact facial skincare products. Excessive packaging can make the container feel disconnected from the box and occupy unnecessary retail and shipping space.
A better face cream box design starts with the container and builds enough room around it for practical packing and presentation. Brand recognition can then come from typography, colour, print and structure rather than unused internal volume. This is particularly useful for skincare ranges where several products need to look related on shelf despite using different container formats.
Skincare brands frequently use one jar or pump format across several face creams. That creates an opportunity to standardise the carton structure. If the physical container and closure remain identical, the same dieline may support different artwork for day creams, night creams or other variants. Colour, product name and printed information can change without rebuilding the carton each time.
A change of supplier should still trigger a fit check. Two jars both described as 50ml are not necessarily dimensionally identical, and even a different lid can affect the finished carton height.
Folding paperboard is suitable for many cardboard face cream boxes because it provides clean printable surfaces without making a compact skincare product unnecessarily bulky. The required grade depends on the container. A heavier glass jar may justify a different specification from a lightweight tube. Inserts or additional internal support can also be considered where the shape or presentation calls for them.
Premium finishes such as foil blocking, embossing or selected coatings can be introduced where appropriate, but they are finishing decisions rather than substitutes for a correctly specified structure. Where particular material credentials are required, these should be confirmed against the actual board being supplied rather than assumed from its appearance.
The carton may be product-specific, but the visual identity usually isn’t. Branded face cream packaging can share typography, colours, logo placement and finishing details with the wider skincare range. This helps jars, tubes and pumps look connected even when their cartons require different dimensions.
Face moisturiser packaging can follow similar structural principles where relevant, but the terminology does not need to dominate this page—particularly where moisturisers form a separate product range. For growing brands, keeping structural specifications and artwork files organised also makes repeat ordering and new SKU development easier.
Healey Packaging produces custom face cream boxes for UK skincare brands, cosmetic businesses, retailers and packaging resellers. We can develop bespoke dimensions for jars, tubes and pump containers, with suitable paperboard constructions, custom print and finishing options for individual retail products.
Having supported thousands of packaging and print projects, our team can assist with structural design, material selection, dielines, artwork preparation and repeat wholesale production. Send us the complete container dimensions with the final lid, cap or pump attached, along with its approximate weight and your artwork requirements. That gives us a far more reliable starting point than simply specifying a 30ml, 50ml or 100ml face cream.

Measure the complete primary container at its maximum width, depth and height with the final lid, cap or pump attached. Product capacity alone does not determine the carton dimensions.
