Choose Between an Open Holder and a Closed Carton

An open holder leaves part of the sandwich exposed for serving or presentation. A closed carton surrounds more of the contents. Decide which format suits the way staff pack the sandwich and customers carry it.

If you want a window, identify the part of the sandwich that should remain visible. Window position, film and closure details need to be agreed together. A clear panel shows the contents, but appearance through a window cannot establish food safety or remaining shelf life.

Keep Food Labels Clear of Windows and Folds

Plan the label area before filling every panel with branding. Leave a readable space for the food information your business needs to provide. Ingredients, allergen information and date labels may need different layouts across your menu.

Keep important text away from folds, glue areas and the viewing panel. If staff apply labels after filling, show where the label will sit on the assembled carton. A closure sticker also needs a suitable landing area on both sides of the opening.

Your logo and colours can identify the business without crowding these working areas. Consider how each design will look on the chosen stock, especially when comparing brown kraft with a white print surface.

Approve the Shape Before Placing the Artwork

Usable internal dimensions describe the space available for the sandwich. External measurements also include the carton construction, so confirm which measurements appear on your specification. A structural dieline sets out the panels, cuts and folds for that agreed shape.

Place artwork on the correct dieline rather than adapting an unrelated box template. A visual mock-up helps show the intended appearance, but it does not replace confirmation of fit. Check the closure and label position alongside the printed panels before approving the artwork.

Plan Quantities Around Your Menu and Deadline

Request the quantity you need, including the split between sandwich sizes or printed versions. For wholesale orders, provide the total requirement and any separate designs so the quotation reflects the work involved. Keep a copy of the approved specification when preparing a repeat enquiry.
